Sports and Recreation

Besides academics, all students are expected to take part in other activities such as sports, membership to clubs or professional societies. This creates an all-round student.

There are number of recreation and sports activities at the University. The Department of Sports and Recreation offers welfare and sports skills services to the students through a comprehensive, dynamic and exciting Inter-Hall Sports Championships scheduled to take place during the First Semester of the each academic year. The games include:

  • Volleyball
  • Football
  • Walking
  • Hockey
  • Rugby
  • Netball (only for Women)

University Students are also involved in various National and International Sport Competitions. Theses include:

  • East African University Games
  • East, Central and Southern Africa University Games
  • All Africa University Games
  • World University Games

Uganda vs Singapore WUNC 2018

FISU, the International University Sports Federation coordinates the activities of over 100 national university sport federations and holds world university championships in the most popular university sports. The 2018 edition was held at Makerere University, where it staged 34 WUCs, attracting approx. 6,500 participants from 105 countries.
